Back in the 90’s my family had just left 11:00 am mass at Saint Thomas More and my sister wanted taco bell for lunch. My father drove us to the original one on Sherwood Forest next to Podnuh’s BBQ. My mom and sister waited in the car my father and I went in to order. The store was pretty much empty and my father went up to the register to order, while I zigzagged through the metal queuing area.
As my dad was at the register this man walked up behind him and touched the back of his arm. The man had a blue baseball cap, green jacket and a scruffy face. He asked my dad if he could spare some change. My dad was visibly shaking and stumbled. He caught himself and agreed to pay for the mans food. This man talked to my dad for several minutes until our order was brought out. We began to make our way back to our car I could tell my dad was still not right. As he handed the bag to my mother she asked him if everything was alright. I could hear my dad say “there was a man inside the store who looked exactly like his brother.” My mom ended up having to drive us home. Several hours later I asked my dad if he knew that man at taco bell. He looked at me and said “the man looked exactly like your Uncle Melvin who passed years before you were born.” My dad passed several weeks ago and prior to his passing he would constantly remind me of the event. He would call it “the time Uncle Melvin got to meet his nephew.”
