The ice machine is the dirtiest thing in the restaurant cause it is never drained and cleaned. I’m not in the industry, just saw a news report 15 years ago about how much bacteria and nastiness are in them on the reg

True for mom and pop places. I spend $400 every two months for someone to break it down and clean. Hourly employees only do the basic cleaning

Eta: the soda nozzles can get pretty bad if not maintained. The real threat is the menus. Everyone touches them eith hardly anyone washing their hands properly and then the menus not being sanitized often. Everyone likes to blame the food for poisoning bit never the poop fingers that were there before you

Can confirm. I once worked at a restaurant where we occasionally would find a roach in the ice. For some reason, I finally looked up inside the machine and there were 100’s of frozen roaches at the top.

Tea urn nozzles get pretty disgusting too. Most restaurants clean them frequently but not always. I can taste it when restaurants need to clean their urn nozzles.
