It's both.
Welfare programs are prone to government expansion and abuse? Shocking revelation.
It's largely irrelevant due to the fact that the welfare program is going to cost more than it takes in and is not sustainable for that reason.

roughly 3 trillion is owed to that from the federal gov
About 2 years of projected outlays during the Boomer era. When we'll be paying them SS for 20-ish years, that's not as relevant as you're trying to make it out to be.

This is a possibility. I have a fairly low tolerance for dishonesty. If I were smarter, I would sell out my values.
Again.. get off your arse, get out and make the changes you want to happen become reality.
Truth is, all you want to do is bitch that the Bush wing is the way to go.

You clearly don't know what a "straw man" is, and how is it my fault that I'm exposing hypocrisy from MAGA/Patriots?
Are we just supposed to ignore the hypocrisy and Leftist economics they favor? Is this the dirty secret of MAGA?

Its been pretty eye-opening. MAGA admitted what I always suspected, they are left wing populists dressed up as Republicans.
ok... Lisa!

There is only so much to be done when dealing with people who want/expect government spending largesse.
When Democrats and MAGA are 100% behind this spending, what coalition is there to thwart it?

Ok, I am starting with you.
Trumpist economics are borderline socialist.
Stop being a rube. Youre being used by actual commies.

Welfare programs tied to Social Security is the problem.

Would be nice to have actual leadership to take care of this shite.

No I meant what I said. That did not include you however. You are straight up leftist. Your facade was removed in many threads.

You didn't really say anything. You rely on pejorative terms and talking points and don't really say anything.

Leftism is now promoting decreasing federal spending?

Slowflow and Roger who will you be voting for come November?

Its leftists that usually make excuses for fiscal stupidity, like MAGA is doing in this thread.
Leftists covet spending, just like MAGA.

I'll know when third parties decide.

quote:You are referring to cost or affordability, not inflation. Cost decreases with deflation. Deflation stems from the increase in fiat unit value, and/or supply in excess of demand. Despite both of those components at play, we've only yet seen a subsidence of inflation. Costs remain elevated.
The rate of increase has subsided, but the inflation has not.
To your point, in a hypothetical purely supply mediated instance we would see price deflation as supply returned to norms. In fact we are seeing evidence of that in some sectors. Lumber, auto prices, etc. But few things in a real economic milieu are so simple.
E.g., PotatoBrain extended stay-at-home pay long after any medical justification remained. Meanwhile, businesses reopening were confronted with an artificially contracted workforce, and increased competition for workers. Demand, in this case for workers, exceeded supply. The result? Higher wages. Those in turn had to be passed on at the same time supply was picking up. That in turn mitigates supply related deflation.

Inflation is simply the impetus. Affordability is a result.
We cant afford things we once could because of inflation.

No promise ever existed. That was a talking point that only dullards believe.
That's a lie or pure ignorance.

Trumpkins have tried to avoid answering by derailing this thread into one about choices, when that's irrelevant to the thread.
I think multiple people including myself have said Trump isn’t good on spending and deficits. That said, even if it’s by accident rolling back green regulations, DEI mandates and increasing energy production will help reduce production costs and reduce core inflation.
If this whole thread is some kind of gotcha to point out Trump isn’t a Buckley conservative I think that discussion has been covered multiple times.

That was nothing compared to the UI programs rolled out in August of 2020.
Thats where the outright theft occurred.
Its also hard to get restaurant workers back to work after they made more the previous year by choosing not to work.
