Well they had a part in it. Pay attention to Heavy Metal guitar riffs. It's basically the blues speeded up. Now stuff like Korn and Limp Bizkit and the crap from the 90s and on was more punk influenced. Who do you think guys like Tommy Iommi were influenced by?
