More pressure when you are “the guy”

Crews gone

“The Guy” Crews did it only 8 times in his career.

Edited: and when Crews was “The Guy”, he led the team in RBIs with 74 before Tommy showed up and only hit into a double once that year. That Guy may not be the best reference point though.

In ‘21, Dugas was our RBI leader and did it only 4 times all season.

So it may not be a product of having guys on base.

That's an insane stat. Crews was truly on another level.

But to the original topic, I think Tommy has been pressing, and coming off injury hasn't helped. The order is sort of molded to have guys on base when he's up, so the chances of DPs is higher. He tends to hit the ball hard and is also not particularly fleet of foot, which also contributes.

it’s called math

neither Dugas nor Crews hit behind a guy with a who was on base 56.7% of the time.

but hey maybe tommy sucks.

Maybe you’ve secretly found that out.
