I love this state and love my city. According to the OT, I’m the mindless scum that left the opportunities of Texas to return home to shitty NOLA. I chose to raise my family here and am constantly reminded that I made the right choice. New Orleans and Louisiana truly have a heartbeat that is palpable - if you live away for long enough you really start to appreciate the people and the culture.
My first trip to the grocery store after living away for 8 years I was instantly reminded that, generally, people here are kind and share a bond regardless of your upbringing, background, or beliefs. Simple gestures, salutations, and smiles weren’t something I experienced while I was away to the degree they occur here. Call me simple, but that’s worth a lot to me.
