hey brother
am a vet
i preface forthcoming comment with i am just taking in what information you have provided and it cant be construed as a full diagnosis or medical advice, just my opinion with limited data.
i would not worry about an emergency visit tonight if you will be bringing him in tomorrow. Blood in stool and in vomit can be a huge list of things, most of which isnt on my immediate emergency list (at least not the amount you are describing). There would be a few things but if mentation and behaviors, including appetite is normal it worries me less.
i would want to asses a lot of other things. How much blood (a little often looks like a lot). what condition is the blood? (im guessing vomit was frank, ie very red and stool is more rusty or brown?). Any changes in home care lately? etc etc yada yada
things to look out for overnight
-sudden change in behavior or mentation (dont get into your head though and start making things up)
-check his crt (this was described by previous poster), you can check this by pushing hard on the gums above his upper canine teeth. when you let go it will be white because you pushed all the blood out the tissue. it should return to pinkness in a second or less. if it become prolonged, means he could have significant blood loss.
-sudden onset of pain
-intractable vomiting. if he starts vomiting non-stop without periods of rest that would be an immediate get your arse to emergency.
id say try to put your mind to ease and get some rest. bring him in tomorrow.

I'd say yes to both of those.

Just the food change. It's been 3 weeks now. We are going to switch him back to his old stuff though because it was good on his stomach I think. Diarrhea went away almost immediately after putting him on it.

He was a little restless last night but otherwise slept pretty good. He was pretty tired/didn't play as much as normal.

I didn't do this. I just looked at his gums and the y seemed pretty pink. Although his gums are blacker than I ever noticed before. But I doubt that's something new.

Good there.

Gave him some rice this morning with a little chicken broth before I took him to the vet and he threw it up immediately. Our dogs aren't people food dogs so he's not used to that, but he threw it up before he was even done eating. But there was no blood in it.
I waited for the vet but ended up having to drop him off because the vet was in a procedure. So I didn't even get to talk to him. Just told them what was going on. Still waiting on a call from them.
