Not that I have ever been a huge fan, but the latest Underoath was unlistenable to me, and it was because all I could hear was the nu-metal beats and guitar stylings.

I think bands that don't have the DJ and hip hop elements would be better classified as Alternative Metal. These to me are bands that sound like Nu Metal, but are missing a key element. Nu Metal bands have occasional solos. Alternative Metal bands have solos more often. Not many Sevendust songs without a solo and same could be said for Godsmack.
