At certain GA community colleges with high standards, if you get an Associates with at least a 3.0 in math and engineering, you are automatically accepted at GATech. Probably backfilling for kids who could not hack it right out of HS.
I refused to allow my son to go off to school right out of HS, because he did not learn how to study. He learned under fire at the community college, which kept him from being a kid who created debt and moved back home, having to be “backfilled.”
If not for his ADHD (and getting off medicine in 10th grade), his GPA and ACT would have likely been even better, but he was still immature. However, his work ethic is impeccable, and he is kicking butt in the working world.
