If a person is struggling with life so bad that the only way they see out of that suffering is death, and you want them to keep living through that pain and struggle, maybe you need to reevaluate who is the one actually being selfish?

This is a very good point. 55 seems too young if he didn't have any major health issues. Id be spending that inheritence to travel the world, you only get to see it once.

Pain and struggle are temporary, death is eternal. That’s why it’s selfish.

Only way I feel this is true is if they have a medical condition and the pain of that condition is unbearable or they basically can't do anything any more. THat's no way to live life.


But otherwise, it's a mental illness essentially, and making that type of decision under that type of duress...you're obviously not thinking clearly to make that decision with any level of confidence that it is the correct thing to do. THat's not selfish, that's just kind of basic logic IMO.
