The WNBA lacks recognizable star power. Clark at least gives them a semblance of that.
She and Reese are the reason women's CBB has gained popularity/attention over the last year.
Now, will Clark and Reese make the WNBA comparable to the other major sports? No, but adding them certainly doesn't hurt.

I would want it to happen as well. Would be another sport to entertain people. Sounds like you want it to fail for political reasons as much as they want it succeed.

There’s a list as far back as the 90s of the next “recognizable start power” that was about to come take over the WNBA and it never happened.
