One time Paul Harvey was telling a story about how midwestern farmers were approached by the state (CRS on which one) biologists about a rare bird and to report any sightings to a hotline. Well they did, and then the state biologists came in and exercised some rule and created 50 acre zones around the spot after they verified the rare birds were indeed there. No farming could occur within these zones. Well the next year the state biologists were perplexed as to why after a good first year there were no rare bird sightings the following year. No one went on record but the message that the farmers were instead shooting the birds made its way back to the state biologists. Good-day....

Made the mistake of reporting a dead bald eagle on the farm once that had obviously flown into a power line overnight. My God the feds did a full autopsy and found one lead pellet in the bird and tried to say we shot it. They went through our paperwork for the last several years trying to find one instance where we purchased lead instead of steel shot for our depredation permit for cormorants. Couldn’t find one, and forensics showed the pellet had been in the bird a long time. They determined it died from blunt trauma from….wait for it….flying into a power line.

Found another one years later same scenario. Dug a deep hole with the backhoe

Back in 16 I shot a 140 8 pointer on at our place and a ffew weeks later two GW's came by checking hunting camps. In shooting the bull I told them about the 8 pointer and showed them my license and the photo of the buck, which I used my 6.8. I could tell he was zooming in all the way and I asked him if he was trying to stretch that 5 round mag into a 10 rounder.

Bet owners/operators of wind farms don't go through this, and they slaughter hundreds.
