Toronaga didn't sacrifice his son.

1. It wasn't Toranaga's idea to assassinate his brother, that was Toranaga's son and Yabashige's nephews plan.

2. It almost worked but the son is kind of a dip shite. Certainly wasn't a planned death like the other two

Some people watch the show but doesn't understand the time period of this Japanese era. Honor and loyalty is a great deal back then. You die in honor and serve lord to your death. They sacrifice themselves for the Lord's cause or Duty must be performed if ask else it's betrayal and die honorably through seppuku.

Meh, there is nothing happening in Toranaga’s camp he doesn’t know about. His son dying sure was convenient in buying him 49 extra days.

He knew the assassination attempt was happening. If his son succeeds then boom it worked and that’s good, if he fails and dies, 49 extra days, he knew….

Another question. They all make a big deal about proper etiquette, honor, hospitality, etc… Yet it seems the work around of this is just to send assassins in the night, it literally happens 4 times in the show.

Why do these people not have better night time security when they are staying in a hostile place? Literally one guard gets killed and their entire camp is completely overrun? And this happens multiple times, seems like an irresponsibly low amount of security

The sons death was one of the weirdly funnier deaths I’ve seen on a tv show in a long time
