I think it is more like one more year. The excuse train will fully be over next year (except for those diligent few who refuse to find any grounds for criticism whatsoever) and it has never been easier to quickly "rebuild" a winning team. If after next season the team is still hovering around .500 and no real threat to make the NCAA Tournament it will be very reasonable to evaluate if this is just a waste of time relative to the ultimate goal of being a competitive program. Twice in the last 20 years LSU has hung on to a HC after it was clear the program was going nowhere (Johnson after 2 seasons with 5 total SEC wins; Jones after the wasted "Simmons" year). All it resulted in was greater apathy to build from for the next HC. There's generally no reason to prolong what is inevitable.
However, to the OP's point, any new arena is so far into the future that it won't have any bearing of the evaluation of McMahon in the next couple of years.

It depends.
If Ward returns, we finish this season strong, and continue improvement through next year finishing out with a strong class — they would have to faceplant the following season for his seat to really heat up.
But if we unravel down the stretch here & next year turns out a side-grade to this season, he would need a great class at that point to have any chance at quelling the angry mobs + would likely need to follow that up with an around .700+ season.
I like what I’ve seen in terms of improvement & player development over the course of this year. The UK game was one of the grittiest upsets I can recall being on the winning end of — that team was insanely more athletic than we were, and it’s not like they were having an off day either.
If MM can get some dudes here, I think he will be very successful.
