Wasn’t it Netflix he had to buy it back from because they wouldn’t sign off on the Michael Jackson joke?

That’s what he claims, but there’s nothing really to back that up besides what he says

The joke in question isn’t that crazy compared to anything that Netflix puts up for their other comedians, regardless of how big they are. He never actually names a specific streaming company when he tells the story, just keeps it high level enough to keep it feeling real without any substance to back it up.

He also posted it unedited on YouTube right after. YouTube is one of if not the most advertiser friendly video platforms available and one of the most censored platforms around. Again unedited and released for free on YouTube.

Seems much more likely that he couldn’t find a buyer, or atleast at the price he wanted, and wanted to leverage that to spin up a story that he’s being silenced and his fans need to support it to defend free speech, blah blah.

To post it on YouTube like a month later after inferring heavily that the rental option was the only way you’d be able to see it (and limited time to buy!), is honestly just scummy business on his part in itself. Especially when he did a hundred pods to hype it up as changing comedy (with an idea that had already been done, successfully by plenty of other comedians)
