Keep it fun. One of my kids swam in college and left the team after 2 years. At that level it is brutal on the body and mentally. Just like any sport at that level, it's like a full time job. It was much less expensive than other travel sports and the travel was minimal except for the higher level meets. I loved watching it though and didn't mind the meets even though they are LONG bc they aren't every weekend like other sports. We parents had a great time at the state meets. But, by far my favorite was the high school meets! The most expensive thing before they got to college was the dang competition suits that only last for one big meet if you are lucky. Club fees were not bad considering they were there twice a day every day almost except for Sundays.
