I think absolutely 0 of your criticisms are invalid.
But you gloss over one thing:
Romcoms have been mostly dead for 10 years. While they’re not going to be award bait, it’s nice to see people falling in love and being reminded of the pitfalls, heartache, and twinges of love in the early stages.
Been married 20+ years and I still enjoy seeing people fall in love.
It’s a small and somewhat frivolous but needed category of movies needed (like raunchy comedies) that were a victim of Covid and Political correctness in the last 25 years.
Palm Springs, Lost City, and Shotgun Wedding are just about the only ones I can name since Covid.
ETA: missed this
This had female nudity, sex, penis, and lesbians in it. Not the Hallmark Crowd’s type.
But you gloss over one thing:
