for me, I was engaged and my fiancé was seeing someone on the side while I was working and supporting her while she was in school. only found out because her son asked me if the other guy was her new boyfriend.

moved home, drank heavily and contemplated suicide a bit - but pulled myself out of that pit. my now wife approached me, and while not looking for a relationship, decided to get to know her.

16 years later, married 10 years and the best decision I ever made. she really compliments me in all my faults, and loves me unconditionally.

we have both been in really shitty relationships with abuse and infidelity, and we both knew we would never do it to each other.
