The Patriots were the gold standard of "we don't overpay for players", letting big name veterans walk on both sides of the ball and replacing thru the draft. Worked great for a long time...
Except when their hall of fame QB left, it turns out all that young talent isn't all that great

You’re constantly rotating a balance of veterans where you spread the cap hit and rookies, literally how it’s done
