This is halfway where I am at.
I expect her to fully fund any of the kids college accounts. I will be busy trying to replenish retirement funds she took at an age 12.5 years older.
That is only realistic.
Kids will know the full story someday.

There is simply too much social media - certainly destroying real life communication. And instant gratification has ruined many lives…but I digress.
By the way - states like Colorado make it almost impossible for the divorced male to
recover.

I am also hoping to keep the house. It will be damn close though financially.
But she moved out.
I want to be the stable parent that kept the kids in the family home and in the private school.
And I can eventually recoup some money comparatively to her if I keep the mortgage with the 2.7 % interest rate compared to today's 6 or 7% rates.
I also have a real strong relationship now with her father. She grew up without him around and it turns out her mother kinda pulled the same nonsense on him. So he and I are bonding and venting over this.
Their relationship has been broken since she only asks him for money mostly and had the gall to ask him for her inheritance early to buy a new house for her and the kids. Never once Asked him about filing for divorce or anything related.
It's a crazy circumstance.

I will buy you every beer on the planet some day.
My decree says that I'll give 25% of any annual bonus to their 529s (12.5% each). Well, even if it's $10k a year, it's meaningless. But not shocking, considering how many financial run ins I had to have with her.
What we expect is not going to happen. We will be the a-hole, in all cases, for a long time. It'll get better, we hope.
