agreed. it's a true "seeing is believing" situation.

It really is. My wife doesn't watch most of these shows so she just asks me to tell her about them. She knew I was disappointed in the season but she's asked me a few times to tell her about the finale and I seriously just laugh. Just trying to describe it out loud to someone it sounds even dumber than typing it out.

dude...it's not a bubble.

With this, it is. In the thread we had people saying they need to drop the last two episodes together and cut their losses, pronounced it as a massive failure, etc. It's clearly not. Tons of people watched it, and even though we almost all hated it/thought it was terrible, a ton of people liked it. They've never announced a follow up TD season as fast as this. It was watched by more people than any season of TD ever. HBO cares about eyeballs and money, and this apparently brought both.

who are these people?

do you know a single person in real life that loves season 4? i dont know a single one. many of my friends bailed after one or two episodes. go look on the social media pages that arent HBO's - literally tens if not hundreds of thousands of comments almost universally bashing the season. how, by any definition of the word, does that make TD a "bubble"?

conversely, TD is a microcosm.

Where are the numbers? The studio may be gambling that this news will make people watch the current season and anticipate the next. You give Hollywood the benefit of the doubt too often. I do not believe the numbers were good and until I see an objective set of numbers, I don't believe it did well.

Hollywood has sunk an ungodly amount of money into DEI content and they've shown no attempt to admit they're wrong about its core philosophy (i.e. blank slatism, systemic racism, etc.)

Do not assume this isn't a double-down to prove their point. At the end of the day they know the truth regardless of the wishcasting they do with their press releases.

They truly believe they can use language to override objective reality.
