But the chance of this happening to my kids is about the same as their chance of dying from covid (0.000000000001%)

Unless you're saying your kids don't dig holes at all, tell us you have no understanding of statistics without telling us you have no understanding about statistics.

how so two kids (7 & 9) dig a 5-6 foot hole......

the adults had to have helped..... i have seen enough trench safety videos to know you dont dig that deep in sand without shoring or stepping it out

Jesus. Crazy it could even happen to an older teenager.

in fairness to other teenagers, my little brother was in idiot then and he's an idiot now. love him, but he's a moron.

I agree.

I can't imagine 2 kids, even with toy shovels, digging a 6-foot deep hole.

I've never been able to dig a hole 6 feet deep on the beach because the bottom starts to fill with water.

True, but I see kids digging like this all the time when I visit the beach so I guess not everyone knows it's dangerous to dig deep holes.

I’ve lived in FL my whole life and I’ve never once seen kids dig a hole this deep at the beach. Esp a 7 year old.

Even people who build those professional looking sandcastles don’t dig holes that deep.

How do you not notice your kid doing this? And how the hell did they even have the energy to do that?
