I haven’t read any responses so forgive me if this is redundant. But, as a basketball coach a rule of thumb is when clock is about 8 sec you play it out for a number of reasons…

If you call a timeout you are likely getting Jordan Wright in a similar play anyway.

You are challenging the defense to get a stop in transition which is the hardest thing to do in basketball

You don’t let defense set up OR even change their defense from man to zone or change ball screen coverage (blitz, drop, ice, etc) or off ball coverage (switch everything).
