Aside from the fact that all the main characters were running around with the thickest plot armor to ever exist for an hour and the entire dothraki army gets wiped out in the first 5 minutes.
Yea, the Dothraki deaths cannot be defended. Just an awful battle strategy. I get they were on horses but it makes no sense for them to charge into the dark, they should have at least waited until after they show arrows and then charged. If I remember correctly, I think D&D said their thinking behind that was that because they were pumped up after their weapons being lit on fire they charged (could be misremembering that, that that wasn't actually the game plan. Dany also abandoned the game plan once she saw them all get killed.
But a fair amount of people died in that battle. Theon and Jorah were two main characters, and after it was all said and done actually had two of the best story arcs. In the books and show, Theon/Reek was a favorite of mine. Night King, Melisandre, Lady Mormont, Beric Dondarrion, The Knight King, Edd. Probably could have had another main character or two die.

Arya easily killing the NK and ending the series long build up of the WW was probably the most unsatisfying way I could think of to defeat a villain.
I 100% get people being mad about that. Jon and the Knight King needed to face off in some way. Even if it's them fighting and Arya comes up and stabs him, at least have those two square off in some way. Fighting on dragons, while badass, was not enough.
The thing that made me mad the most about Arya, seriously one of my all time favorite book characters, was that they essentially made her a faceless man/woman. They turned her into "no one". She was not no one. She didn't even remotely finish her training and should not have been able to change faces. She never learned how to do that. I thought that was a cheap trick and I hope they don't do that in the books. Not that the books will ever come out.
