One of the best songs ever written
A true classic that will never get old.

I'll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby
It was written and composed by producer Keith Forsey and guitarist Steve Schiff. Forsey and Schiff wrote the song for Simple Minds

I always heard it was written & set up for Billy Idol but he backed out thinking it wasn’t edgy enough for him & Simple Minds got it instead & it became a classic

Love the movie, love the song. I graduated high school in 1985, and this song, along with “Purple Rain”, were my high school sweetheart and my songs.

Didn't the band dislike the song after they recorded it?

That song certainly has stood the test of time, great lyrics and I thought he had a great voice. Alive and Kicking was my fav song of theirs.
