That's some bullshite.
Crane flies, or what some seem to call mosquito hawks, do not eat mosquitoes. Many species don't feed at all, and some don't even have mouth parts because they don't live long enough as adults to need to eat. They emerge, mate as quickly as possible, lay their eggs, and spend the rest of their few days waiting around to die. The ones that do feed usually feed on nectar. The larvae of some species do feed on some other living insects, but not mosquitoes, and mostly decaying plant matter.
