there is literally nobody here who is making the argument that it's some massive revenue generating sport.

nobody is asking for it to be front page and take over SportsCenter.

but it is a growing sport. and every time ESPN adds more content, it grows more.
that alone is reason to justify sinking at least some effort into pushing it to see how much more it can grow.

Professional Lacrosse has it's own page on their website.
and that's a sport where 452,000 people streaming is the largest viewing audience ever in the history of the sport. They recently had a 3 game (over 2 days) total attendance of just over 12,00 that was their best yet.
But they get games televised across nearly the entire ESPN Family (ESPN, ESPN2, ABC).


College baseball absolutely draws more fans than Professional LaCrosse.
and it's not even remotely close.

go ahead and compare those attendance numbers too if you want.
only ratings I could find online for them was from December when a massive 13,000 fans on average watched one of their games televised on ESPNU.
No, there isn't a digit missing from that number.

that's Thirteen Thousand.
according to the box score, there was 1,200 people that bought tickets.

so fewer than 15,000 people total watched a game that got a National TV spot, it's own page on ESPN, etc.

without looking it up, I guarantee you the SEC had multiple teams sell 10,000+ tickets to multiple games this past weekend.
and if you can find streaming views, I would bet a large sum of money that quite a few teams nationally did better than 15,000 total tickets + streams multiple times this weekend.

so with the SEC alone (let alone adding the several teams from other conferences that do very well in drawing interest) drawing more eyeballs than those 2 professional leagues combined, I think they move the needle enough to justify at a bare minimum more coverage than those 2 leagues get.
