While I agree that crime is a major issue facing this state, what is the governor supposed to do about it? I find that to be more of a localized problem to solve no matter who is in office

There isn't a single thing you can do about crime besides what that El Salvador pres did, by locking them up and having an even already extremely, exteremely high incarceration rate in Louisiana.
Any move where the thugs in Louisiana are left in the street will always result in crime continuing. There's no program, or extra officers, or anything that'll make it go down. The absolute only way possible is for them to be removed from society and put in a prison.
If they are left for their own free will, it will 100% continue to happen.

You might be right about this, but Landry made it part of his platform. So he kind of made it his problem. Which I respect - if he can actually do something about it.
I also agree with others who question whether increased funding / less red tape for sheriff’s offices is going to have a meaningful impact on crime. Hopefully this is just the first of many steps to get real results and not just an “easy win” he can point to later.
