Some farmers who don’t have deep water wells have to pump surface water. Surface water comes from bayous that that flow to the Gulf of Mexico. When the water levels reach the lows they did this past summer the salt water creeps in. So when it was so dry this summer you either don’t pump or take a chance and pump saltwater. Either way it’s not a good situation.
