If you take Clemson and FSU off the table, then who would the SEC even want?

Inc and Virginia?? M for fricking football?

Duke? Miami?

Hell. NC State fits the SEC as Mich ans anyone else.

The problem with adding football powers is there's not a lot of room left at the top.

Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, now Oklahoma and Texas.
One of them will finish no higher than 8th, and that's assuming one of the other teams like Ole Miss doesn't jump them.

Do that a few years in a row, and you're now established as mediocre.

Look at Arkansas; usually fighting it out with Texas, sometimes A&M. Odds are, at any time in the SWC, Arkansas was good and no lower than 3rd. They're mid-lower tier now in today's SEC. The more teams you add, the more get shunted to the middle.

What's the luster of adding Clemson, if they end up 6-6 every year because they can't handle the SEC core teams?

What's the Big 10 getting from Nebraska? Will they get any more from the Pac teams?

NC State, Florida State, and Virginia Tech in that order are who we should target. Ask them each until you get two yeses and move on.
