I think a lot of people grew up on their parents cooking the thin ones and vastly overcooking them, so they don't like them as adults.
I agree a perfectly cooked thick cut chop is good.

One of my favorite meals as a child was when my Mom fried pork chops. Seasoned flour only and in the deep fat fryer. They didn't fry for very long so they were still moist and they weren't the most thin chops. We had LeSueur sweet peas in the silver can and shoepeg white corn with sort of a light roux. From time to time, I recreate that meal.
