Looking at the 49ers’ message boards, their fans are pretty much OK with this, with a lot of them saying it would’ve happened even if they’d won the big trophy and that they were surprised it didn’t happen during the season. Apparently it truly, legitimately was never a really good fit. Apparently it was so problematic that Shanahan had ordered him to the sideline from the press box a while back so he could keep tabs on him.

From listening to radio on reports out of San Fran. The players love Shanahan and did not like wilks. Some were not happy with the end of game calls. He had some rough calls at the end. But the defense was probably tired and they were t getting the pressure from the front 4 anymore. But that 5 across defense he had 10 yards back was bad. It made life easy for mahomes Shanahan saw that and got pissed when it was called and got the timeout.
No doubt shanahan blew the calls in the 3rd quarter. But he has done too much to get fired. He has taken teams to the Super Bowl with jimmy g and Purdy.
