My family did the Avon shite for a while. I remember going to my grandparents' house and hearing my grandma telling my dad "can you stop bring that shite over here". We stopped getting the cases for awhile. Funniest part to me was it was for household cleaning products, but we had a family friend that brought her own shite to clean our house.
Parents also got suckered into an off-property Disney timeshare (Weston?). If we ever bring it up, my dad will double down and talk about how much they save to go to Orlando every other year just to avoid going to Disney.

My middle sister became an Avon Lady and at the time they would ship the shite and you'd pay them later. Idiots. She was 17 years old. She ordered about $1000 worth of the stuff under various names and when it came she sold it at a local flea market for about $500. She managed to do it 4 or 5 times until they refused to ship anything to our address. Had we had someone we trusted with a different address she'd have done it a bunch more. That stuff was so marked up they never bothered to try to collect, fat lot of good it would have done them.
May be an urban myth but supposedly an Avon lady in Augusta, Georgia made a couple of million dollars selling Skin So Soft to the Southern Company while they were building a nuclear power plant in Waynesboro (just south of the gnat line) Georgia. Apparently she was doing the same thing but they came after her and eventually collected some of the money.
