Then you totally missed the point. It's taken from a novel specifically written to take liberties with the original story, that also was a novel. Most people who have seen the Broadway production think it's a fabulous take with a great story. It basically says that often, things aren't what they seem.

I've seen it on Broadway and the travelling production as well. Loved the musical. I'm not thrilled about the movie.
