If it was about government spending the programs being blamed would be the two that comprise by far the single biggest federal expenditures in the budget, not something that reflects a tiny fraction of the budget.

What it's about is the populist manifesto: If my life isn't going my way, it's somehow the fault of The Man.

If you identify with the populist left, then that means you blame white people, institutional racism, and Republicans for all of your problems. That's "The Man" as far as you are concerned.

If you identify with the populist right, you blame the Deep State/"Uniparty" and Democrats and, depending on just how much of a nutter you are), a global Illuminati of some stripe.

But either way it's The Man's fault, so we have to burn it down.

That's what it's about.
