Stevie Ray Vaughan was a better musician in '81-'83 than he was after he got sober.
Happy as hell he finally got rid of those demons, but in the early 80s, just that 3 piece band and being raw AF was the best he ever played, imo.

#1 Back then the letter agencies and Secret Service recruited Catholic college and the Fraternity lad set, not like the Secret Service today.
#2 Hungover Irishmen have killed far more folks with guns than the IRA
#3 Guy who accidentally discharged felt way more remorse till their death and no good would come from public outcry
#4 Like "Area 51" the JFK death would allow "conspiracies" to occupy the publics mind as cover for the real stuff that has gone on since.
