No one at lsu was ever on the trajectory he was on that early in their career at lsu. If it wasn’t for covid he would have had 4 straight tourney appearances out of his first 5 years as the coach. That has not happened before?
Okay. First five year trajectory. Congrats.
While his first five years weren’t tournament seasons, I would argue that what Dale Brown did was every bit as impressive or moreso. LSU basketball when he arrived was as much of an afterthought as LSU baseball was when Skip arrived. Not only that, but football was the ONLY sport in town, and the mentality in Baton Rouge was 100% football ONLY. That was a massive uphill climb he faced. He busted his arse and traveled the state, handing out nets and stopping everywhere to introduce himself for a sport that no one gave a shite about. Within seven years, he built the program to a consistent tournament team throughout the 80’s and the second best team in the conference behind Kentucky. Until Billy Donovan‘s run at Florida LSU was probably the overall second best basketball program in the history of the conference behind Kentucky.
Dale Brown went to multiple sweet 16s, elite 8s and final fours. Perhaps Wade would’ve eventually had the same achievements but to say he had accomplished things that had never been done at LSU before is a bit absurd.
What Will Wade did in his first five years, while impressive, pales in comparison to what Dale Brown did.

Look I'm pulling for CMM and want him to succeed, but I can't agree with the above statement as Dale's years 2-5 were my first 4 years watching LSU hoops and those were some BAD teams.
I'd also say two years before Dale took over Press actually had a pretty darn good team that beat Kentucky, without Pete and if fact that team was arguably a better team record and production wise than 2 of the 3 teams Pete played on.
Now Press's last year and Johnny Jones last year were about a wash, the team was terrible and the program was in a disasterous state from top to bottom.

Its unfair to compare the two.
LSU basketball was nothing when Brown arrived. It took him several seasons to to get to a winning season.
When Brady was hired, he gave Brown the credit for building the program, putting LSU on the basketball map, making his job of rebuilding the program easier.
Wade came here after LSU had some credibility as a basketball power. Not a Blue Blood but had some Cred.
To his credit he immediately wiped out the blot left by J & J.
He kept us in the picture as a threat to win it all.
Then came Mac. I suspect he has one more year to prove he can revive the program.

What about winning the sec in 2nd year?
How many years did it take dale to win the sec?
How many years was dale coaching before he had been to 4 straight tournaments?? I’m curious?
Wade was in year five and got his legs cut out before he could approach what dale did in in 25years. So yeah your right then if your comparing 25years vs 5years…
But that’s not what I’m talking about so I’ll say again dale never touched what Wade was doing in the first 5 years of coaching at lsu. So who is to say that Wade would not have continued to improve and get better and by year 10 or 12 be on a 9-11straight tournament seasons… you don’t no but what I do no is that the better coach in first 5 years of coaching at lsu is will Wade. Sry you don’t like to hear it

Our basketball program was essentially non existent from 2007-2017. Except for the 2009 season when they almost upset UNC.
We had a fricking Tuba player getting minutes. Eddie Ludwig was a starting center. Wade lifted the program back up after Trent and Johnny burned it down
