The TEXAS based LSU CHAPTERS deserve the credit for their work and for working together.

It's gonna be nice.

I've got some friends who just moved to Austin last month, but have yet to register their vehicles in Texas. Can they request LSU plates when they register or do they have to get regular Texas plates first?

If I already registered for the plate what do I have to do next in order to get it? Also if I want to personalize my plate with "IH8ATM" is there a site to request that?

While the plates have been approved and the corresponding $s sent in for the approval plate/ process,
the actual production has not started.

We hope to have taken care of the last 350 or so by the Bowl Game....and then production will actually begin.

he may have to get some plates before that.

THAT PART IS A SEPARATE PROCESS....
I think you will have to go thru the state of Texas and the cost will be higher ???

email John at membership@lsualumnidallas.com he can probably give you a better answer.

I, too, want a personalized plate. I guess we'll have to wait for TDoT.

TDoT is not yet set up to accept personalized specialty plates for LSU. One they are, the order forms on both the Houston and Dallas websites will be chaged to allow you to order either sequencial plates or personalized specialty plates directly from TDoT. The cost of the regular (sequencial) plates will be $30. The cost of a personalized plate is $40 and for a personalized LSU plate it's $70 (combination of cost of each.) You can use a total of 6 spaces for your personalized feature.

Once production begins in Jan., the plates that you ordered will be sent to your nearest tax office for pick up. If your registration is for a fall date, say Oct., and your LSU plates arrive in Feb, your registration sticker will be reissued for the Feb. date to make them concurrent and you'll be prorated the registartion fee for the difference in months(4.) Then the next renewal date will be Feb of 2010 for both.

I'll bet that the few folks who started the effort in TX have already got their personalized plate requests in the cue. You can forget about getting "LSU FAN", "LSU GUY", "LSU NO1", etc. They are already spoken for even though TXDOT has not started accepting applications.

Black Bengal, if the system cannot accept personalized specialty plates yet, how can the names be taken? We're not putting the order forms on the two websites until the process is completed and there's no name carry over from previous personalized plates

Also none of the names that you listed would work because the number of spaces(6) includes blank spaces as well!

LSUALUMNIDALLAS,
I knew my sarcastic remark would get a response from someone! Seriously, I am sending in forms for all my cars this week. Many thanks to the people who got this through TXDOT. I think I'll just go with the non-personalized version, but how does someone know exactly when to request a specific personalized plate from TXDOT? I have to believe that there will be a number of folks wanting the same specific personalized plate, so how is that resolved? Just curious.

not true...
only for the Generic Tiger Plate...
for now.

as I understand it, AFTER the original plates are issued, the individual person can then order VANITY plates...down the line.

Normally, all states handle the Vanity Plates on a first come-first served basis.

so it will likely be up to the State of Texas.....
the Tiger Plates are part of all Texas plates, so some of the Vanity Sayings may already be taken.

Oily Tigah,
I too am not a Toonces fan, but that's the logo we have to live with for now. I'm sure the TX Tigers who started the plate initiative were limited to the design that LSU would allow. Does anyone know if there is a chance LSU can go back to the old design at some point? Who has the authority to make that decision?

When we addressed the design with the LSU Licensing Dept., we were informed that LSU has standardized it's logo to the one that is on the plate. And that will be the one used in all states that pursue specialty plates. That design was created by the LSU Licensing Dept. and they have been a tremendous help in working with TDoT to get production under way. The first production sample plate is due out this week.

The additional Personalization to the Texas Plate will be available thru the TxDot.

AFTER the Texas plates are into production, which should be shortly....we are to see the actual product proof next week.

The additional cost will be $ 40 per year.
so... $30 for the Tiger plate + $ 40 for the personalization (option)

The form will be posted in the Dallas website (only one I can guarantee)--I am sure the others will do also....

ONCE THE PLATES ARE INTO PRODUCTION, THE PLATES WILL ACTUALLY BE ORDERED DIRECTLY FROM TXDOT.
