LSU Dallas Crawfish Boil
Posted by lsualumnidallas on 4/8/10 at 9:57 pm
Just over a week till the Dallas LSU Alumni host their 31st Annual Crawfish Boil at Double D Ranch in Mesquite, TX. Complete information can be found on our website, www.lsualumnidallas.com, and order forms can be accessed by clicking on the crawfish boil banner on our home page. Last year, 825 enjoyed crawfish or jambalaya so this year we've increased the cooker size and created a second beer station to avoid long lines and speed delivery. No one will be turned away. Tickets for tables of 6 or 8 can be purchased for $35 each or individual tickets as low as $40. But hurry. Early bird prices end at midnight Thursday, April 15th. Whether you reside in the DFW area or just visiting that weekend, plan to join with us as we raise money for scholarship for LSU students. Join our Dallas chapter. 80% of membership dues go directly to scholarships with LSUAA. Register now using PayPal and contribute to LSU while enjoying time with other passionate fans. If you need further assistance, contact John Pierce at memerbship@lsualumnidallas.com. Cya on the 17th and thanks for your support in helping us to raise $20K in 2010!
re: Texas LSU Specialty License Plates

Texas LSU Plates are not stocked at DMV centers statewide. They need to be ordered 14-21 days prior to expiration dates of current registartion. If new vehicles are involved, you can order the plates and register the vehicle when they arrive to avoid having to replace two sets of plates. Delivery is to the main county tax assessor's offices, not home addresses.
As of 5/18, our countdown was down to 66 to complete our quota of 1900. TDoT has never had such volume in specialty plates in less than 10 months. But then again, they never knew what "rabid fans" really stood for till now.
You can go to our website, www.lsualumnidallas.com, click on the license icon on the home page and assess the on line ordering system of TDoT to order either regular or personalized plates. The support that Texas alums and fans has given us has been overwhelming and we can't thank you enough.
And to the guy who wore his purple shirt to the Travis DMV to pick up his plates......GEAUX TIGER!

Texas LSU Specialty License Plates

Our LSU License Plates campaign is fast approaching the desired quota amount of 1900 sets in sales. On Wednesday, April 29th, TDoT emailed that we had sales of 1752 sets of plates to date. That leaves us with only 158 sets remaining to reach our quota and receive a refund of our $8000 deposit. The alumni and friends of LSU have taken this campaign by storm and Christina Flores of TDot reminds us in each email how amazed they are that we have been so successful in less than 9 months time.
The number of pictures of plates on vehicles of adoring owners continues to come in regularly and more and more people are taking notice of our free advertising for LSU. (Some in state school websites have not had the same complimentary accolades about our LSU plates but then that's for them to get over!) If you had been at our crawfish boil on April 18th, you'd have seen a plethora of LSU plates in our parking lot and listened to how excited their owners were when they checked in.
If you have not ordered your plates, this is the month to do so! Your order not only assures that our deposit, which was put up for all to enjoy our plates sooner, will be refunded sooner but also that more plates will be riding the highways of Texas and reminding potential Tiger students of the support of LSU alumni and fans of our school outside the state of Louisiana.
TDoT on line ordering links can be found on our Dallas website, (www.lsualumnidallas.com.) Both regular and personalized LSU plates can be purchased using these links and delivery of each is usually within 21 days. You will receive an email receipt upon filing and your plates will be mailed to your local tax assessor's office for pickup. Prorating of registration fee will be done at the same time to coordinate the expiration date of each so there is no reason to wait till your current plates or registration expire.
Your support of this campaign is greatly appreciated. As the first out of state school to have specialty plates in Texas, we have raised the standard for the now 6 more schools who have inquired about plates for their schools. But just remember- there can only be one number 1 and everyone else will have to hustle to exceed our success rating. We appreciate all who have sent information to other LSU fans and look forward to announcing when we have finally exceeded 1900. Your order could be that one!
Should you have any questions, contact us at membership@lsualumnidallas.com.
Geaux Tigers!

re: Dallas Alumni Crawfish Boil (quick question)

Great questions about our 30th Annual LSU Crawfish Boil. Thought you'd like to have a few insights. First of all, there are just under 2 tons of LA crawfish coming to Dallas on Sat. as well as 30 kegs of beer! (Where did any LA homebody get the idea that 6-7 kegs would satify 625 people as we had last year?)
Families are invited as kids mels are served also and that eliminates the strippers! (Sorry!)
Proceeds from the carwfish boil and silent auction go toward LSUAA scholarships for DFW students. Last year was an exception. We donated the silent auction proceeds to the LSU Band Hall Project. So this year we are making up for the $8150 that would have gone to our scholarships.
Although early bird table discounts have now expired, individual tickets for crawfish or jambalaya are still available and will be available at the door. Beer only tickets also.
Annual membership in our Dallas chapter is only $25 and of that amt., $20 goes to scholarships. Taken along with the crawfish boil, our fundraising has helped us endow our 3rd Top 100 Scholarship. We begin our 4th with this boil.
For those who have inquired about the LSU specialty license plates, we have sold 1640 sets of our 1900 goal. So if you want to help us obtain our $8000 deposit from TxDept. of Transportation, go to our website, www.lsualumnidallas.com, and click on the license plate picture. Our campaign story and link to order from TDoT can be found there. Your support helps further LSU throughtout Texas.
Come join us on Saturday in Mesquite at Double D Ranch. Directions are also available on the home page of our website.

re: LSU License Plates in Texas - Update

When we addressed the design with the LSU Licensing Dept., we were informed that LSU has standardized it's logo to the one that is on the plate. And that will be the one used in all states that pursue specialty plates. That design was created by the LSU Licensing Dept. and they have been a tremendous help in working with TDoT to get production under way. The first production sample plate is due out this week.

Also none of the names that you listed would work because the number of spaces(6) includes blank spaces as well!

Black Bengal, if the system cannot accept personalized specialty plates yet, how can the names be taken? We're not putting the order forms on the two websites until the process is completed and there's no name carry over from previous personalized plates

Once production begins in Jan., the plates that you ordered will be sent to your nearest tax office for pick up. If your registration is for a fall date, say Oct., and your LSU plates arrive in Feb, your registration sticker will be reissued for the Feb. date to make them concurrent and you'll be prorated the registartion fee for the difference in months(4.) Then the next renewal date will be Feb of 2010 for both.

TDoT is not yet set up to accept personalized specialty plates for LSU. One they are, the order forms on both the Houston and Dallas websites will be chaged to allow you to order either sequencial plates or personalized specialty plates directly from TDoT. The cost of the regular (sequencial) plates will be $30. The cost of a personalized plate is $40 and for a personalized LSU plate it's $70 (combination of cost of each.) You can use a total of 6 spaces for your personalized feature.
