We did NOT close the gap on Georgia or Alabama as far as talent goes.
There is a fundamental flaw in that statement. Alabama has had much, much better recruiting classes than Michigan every single year for many years. Sssssooooo, inform me how in the world did Michigan beat Alabama in the NC Semi-Final game? And don't say it was luck because it wasn't. Michigan outplayed Alabama. Recruiting is just one piece of the puzzle and you are also assuming the recruiting services are the final word on incoming talent...they aren't!

Coaching. That's how. That and defensive line recruiting. Michigan's defensive line was loaded. Defensive tackles, Jenkins and Grant are beast. They totally disrupted the o line of Bama.

That said BK assembled the worst defensive staff in LSU history on the defensive side of the ball. He hired coaches who were horrible position coaches and worse recruiters. That manifested itself on the field every week.

Is our 24 class good ? Sure, but it's short on DT's and Cb's. Johnson is the highest rated cb and we're hoping he can transition from qb to cb. McKinley was a good flip but dt recruiting from high school has been mediocre to abysmal since BK arrived. So has cb.

Fans are looking forward to 25, but we have a season to play before then. We'll see how the new defensive hires work out.
