ATHLETE: a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise.
SPORT: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Though F1 drivers are more than likely in top shape, they are not competing in a sport or physical exercise.
One may make the argument that being a driver is physical exertion, but I don’t believe it falls under that category.

I watched the Speed telecast of the race and at one point the announcers mentioned that they spoke to a representative from Brembo who said that the drivers would be applying 350 lbs of force to the brakes for the lead up to turn 12. And they went on to say it is akin to doing a 350 lb leg press with one foot.
Can you push 350 lbs with one leg?

To clarify, G-force is a measure of acceleration and F1 drivers feel up to 6Gs during every race.
How's your neck strength at 6gs and 200 mph?
