After reading some of the posts here, I decided to buy seasons one and two. Just watched the first season and now almost halfway through the second. two word: awesome show. The second season is extremely good!

I don't know why everyone hates on the wives so much. At the outset, Mamet said the point of the show was to give a window into what it's like for these families that have members in special ops.
On top of that, the wife plots this year have been grippingly fantastic. You can't tell me you don't like the storyline with Kim this year.

I love the show, but the wives stuff does tend to be when I refresh my drink. How does the Colonel's ex-wife go from drunk housewife to leading a spook ops mission?

FWIW my dad was an operator in the early 80's. I don't remember much because i was young, but my mother told me that is exactly how it was then and now.
