I'd want an insane salary too if I was going to be taking over in Washington or Carolina.
If that really is true, it feels like overplaying your hand a bit. There’s only so many jobs that open each year and that carousel can quickly close and leave you without a seat and those coaching seats can change overnight
This time last year both the eagles coordinators were getting floated as potential HC candidates, a year later they were looking for jobs. Not saying this will happen, but sometimes you have to fire while the iron is hot
Carolina I understand, one bc they have no assets and no real QB flexibility, I would tell them hell no too unless they wanted to godfather offer me. But Washington has some talent, and great draft capital to reset the table or get a QB in a good class at 2. That’s a sneaky great job now that the stank of Snyder is out the building

This is true, and they are drafting second overall, so I guess it's not as dire as the job once was.
Carolina on the other hand... Yikes, they are stuck without a first round pick, no flexibility at QB and an owner that has gone through 3 coaches in two years and is about as unlikable as anyone in the league. They'd have to give me a guaranteed contract and a huge buyout before I'd even talk to them. Seems like that job is a career ender right now.

Johnson knows there will be potentially a cowboys opening, bears, or maybe even Buffalo so could be holding out for that. He’s got same core coming back in DET, not a bad move if that’s his thought process

Both coordinators did get HC jobs last year. Jonathon Gannon with the Cardinals, and the Colts hired Shane Steichen.
Their replacements lasted less than a year with the Eagles. Both took the fall for the Eagles collapse this season.

This.
He's not going to get the benefit of Detroit being a "good story" next season. People are going to expect them to be good now and any drop off from this season will be criticized. Carolina was the worst job of this cycle with a QB they paid a ton for who looks incredibly overwhelmed and a volatile owner. The only upshot is the HC would be coaching in the Special Olympics division of the NFL, so the bar for success is pretty low.
Washington seems to have the potential for momentum. Their bozo owner is gone, they have some pieces to build around, and they are in a spot to get a top QB prospect. Sure, the division has Philly and the regular season Cowboys, but it probably was one of the better opportunities available. At least better than Carolina, Atlanta, and probably the Raiders

Pretty sure Steichen still has his HC job in Indy
