We fired him over a 10 game suspension to have the failure we have now. That isn’t a smart trade off and don’t think for one second if Wade were losing we wouldn’t be seeing dozens of threads dunking on him. Typical double standard from this group of fans

The counterargument to that is hindsight is 20/20. When Wade was fired no one knew what the potential sanctions may be. I said from DAY 1 I understood why LSU chose to fire Wade. But my concern was that doing so would effectively tank the program in the same manner that severe sanctions would. That has essentially happen. Now, did LSU get lesser sanctions because they fired Wade? Maybe. But given the infractions ultimately found against him were relatively mild, with the worst of which involving payments to the girlfriend of a former VCU (not LSU) player, it's hard to say. Particularly in light of the fact the IARP didn't really issue any strong sanctions against anyone...which is, in part, why the NCAA abandoned the panel. Because for all of the publicity and hype the FBI investigation of college basketball recruiting received for 2-3 years, the ultimate outcome was a complete dud, and an embarrassment for the DOJ. It didn't fundamentally change the sport. If anything, what was "illegal" became "legal" with the introduction of NIL.
