The old illegal defense rule did not prohibit double teams, it prohibited guarding no one. You could guard anyone however you chose to you just couldn’t float around in space. The current rules are very similar, they just put a timer on the old rule where refs could blow the whistle at any time players were floating around. Now they have a 3 second window. It just proves how ignorant you are when it comes to the NBA that you’re constantly harping on rules you don’t know anything about and histories you make up in your head. Try watching a game every once in awhile, you might actually learn something.

Can you post some video where Shaq is double teamed 90% of the time? Should be easy.

You do know they had literal zones on the court that defenders were allowed to cross, right?

It made doubling off the ball impossible by design.

Holy shite you don't know the new rules at all

Defensive 3 seconds is not about preventing "floating". You can "float" anywhere outside of the lane.
