He wasn't the boat driver, he can be as shitfaced as he wants. He wasn't on duty, he can be as shitfaced as he wants. It was bad publicity for the LSP so they wrongfully canned him. Lawyers on both sides apparently agree.

Pretty much what it all boiled down to but for some reason people here think cops aren’t allowed to drink or have anything remotely questionable happen to/around them.

At the end out the day he was the passenger in the boat. The passenger. The passenger that was never even charged with anything.

The dude participated in fleeing the scene of an accident with injury. It wasn't just "bad publicity", it was a crime.

He very well could have stayed at the dock while his drunk buddy drove away, but he didn't. He helped load the boat up and haul arse.

This dude is getting treated with kid gloves because he is a cop. Plain and simple.

You, or I, would have to lawyer up and at best get a fine or some jail time, not a reward for your behavior in the form of back pay and your retirement benefits reinstated.

Nobody is holding this cop up to a higher standard than the general public is held to.
