The best EP/collection of music I've ever heard. Every single song on there is legendary and timeless to me. Extremely nostalgic every time I hear it, and some of Layne Staley's best. Nutshell is my all time #1 song, and Rotten Apple is probably one of the most underrated songs. Love everything about it.

Blasted that one the other day. Incredible collection of tunes. I want to snort a line of the guitar tones from Rotten Apple, Whale & Wasp, and I Stay Away.
Don’t Follow is a top ten song for me and the harmonica play on it is elite. David Atkinson did the harmonica section for those interested.

The older I get, all the more Layne sounds younger and fearful.

I always get goosebumps whenever I hear Layne belt "I stayyyyyy awayyyy."

They're doing a big vinyl re-release for it. I got the 30 year vinyl for Dirt a couple years ago and this is a big yep for me as well.

AIC YT
They commemorated 30 years on the AIC YT channel this morning, and are taking pre-orders on an anniversary box set.
ETA,this guy recently released some rare footage, and a clip from the 1996 Detroit show that Jerry supposedly doesn't want on the internet:

Such a phenomenal album. I always felt like it was underappreciated for just how great it is front to back.

They wrote most of it on tour buses on their down time. Then Layne went in and pushed out the lyrics in just a couple takes. The time during the writing they were evicted from their apartment in Seattle for not paying rent while on tour haha. First album to feature Inez on bass and he did a fine job.
Went down a rabbit hole on wiki last night.

Go and read the notes on wiki about that album. They give good details on the sound engineering.

Definitely my favorite off that album

What a great fricking album, and a bit of a hard turn at a time when their contemporaries were leaning into their popular sound. These guys went-off script and blew our collective minds.

Kinda off topic but Sap is also awesome and the same style as Jar of Flies

I mostly prefer their harder stuff, as I'm sure most AIC fans do, but when the mood is just right, there is not an album in the world, for me, that is better than Jar of Flies.
