The "hard to kill" is the only reason I'd consider them, because I am a straight up murderer when it comes to succulents.
I had a tiny planter with 5 different mini succulents, did great all spring, summer, fall, start of winter. Then the days got too short I think, and they all starting dying...FAST. I ordered a grow light and had it in a few days but it was too late.
The Snake plant has a cool name, great features about it, but I'm just bored by it's look. I'll probably eventually throw a few in the mix. A good cast can't be all superstars, gotta have some nameless, faceless character actors and bit players too. That's the snake plant.
