I think the playoffs will be awesome, but the game may be diminished in the regular season.

1.) Conference championships don’t mean nearly as much if your team looks like an at-large anyway. An 11-1 team in the conference championship game may actually consider resting starters depending on the CG time and results of other CGs played before.

2.) Teams that look like at-large picks going into game 12 may rest starters for that game if they won’t be in the CCG anyway. Thanks to the infinite wisdom of this year’s committee, making sure starters are healthy for the playoffs is of utmost importance.

That's why you have to make seeding SUPER important. This means keeping the field unbalanced so there are always byes. The higher seed should also play at home until the neutral site "super bowl".

By doing this, the regular season will remain exciting.

Actually you are wrong. Conference Championship games are ultra important. Conference Champions earn the top 4 seeds and a bye.

You can go 12-0 in the regular season, be ranked #1 and if you lose the conference championship game you will be playing in the first round as a 5 or 6 seed.
