Admittedly it has been a long time since I practiced law in Louisiana, but I recall my Family Law professor, Katherine Spaht, telling us that although marriage between first cousins was not allowed in Louisiana, every time the Legislature met, they would quietly pass a law validating all such marriages that had occurred since the last validation.
